Beer bread is a particular favourite. Although it bakes for quite a while, it only takes a few minutes to throw together. No kneading or rising time required.
Olive, Cheese and Herb Beer Bread

Beer bread is a particular favourite. Although it bakes for quite a while, it only takes a few minutes to throw together. No kneading or rising time required.

Ingredients
- 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Grated Strong/Mature Cheddar
- 2 Tbsp Finely chopped chives
- 1 Clove of garlic
- 1 tsp Dried or fresh Herbs of your choice I use an Italian Herb Mix
- ½ Cup Chopped Olives Black or green
- 1 Bottle of Beer 330 – 340ml Bottle (any beer)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and grease a loaf tin with non-stick cooking spray
- Prepare the ingredients (grate the cheese, chop the olives and chives, crush the garlic…) and set aside
- Sieve or whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt
- Mix all the other ingredients, excluding the beer, into the flour mixture until well dispersed
- Pour the beer into the dry ingredients and mix well
- Add the mixture to the loaf tin and bake for 50 – 55 minutes, until golden and a skewer or cake tester comes out clean
- Allow to cool for around 10 minutes in the tin, then turn out onto a wire rack and allow to cool further for around 15 – 20 minutes before slicing
